Hawai'i Conservation Week
July 25 - 31, 2010
Celebrate Conservation Week!
During the last week of July, the State of Hawai'i observes Conservation Week in recognition of our need to take care of Hawai'i's unique natural environment. Conservation Week events aim to increase public awareness of key conservation issues affecting Hawai'i's lands and seas and unite our leadership in identifying conservation-related priorities of statewide significance. Conservation Week approaches these goals through educational and outreach activities including the annual Hawai'i Conservation Conference and its symposia, forums, and fieldtrips hosted by the Hawai'i Conservation Alliance (HCA). The theme for this year's Conference is Pacific Ecosystem Management and Restoration: Applying Traditional and Western Knowledge Systems.
Get Involved: Host a Conservation Week Event
HCA encourages other organizations to get involved and host public events and activities during, or leading up to Conservation Week. The calendar will be updated frequently and shared with the community and the media. This is a tremendous opportunity for your organization to encourage residents and visitors to explore ways in which they can help preserve our precious natural resources.
Get the Word Out
If you or your organization is hosting a conservation-related event you would like to promote on the Conservation Week calendar, please contact Celeste Ventresca at hcaoutreach@gmail.com or (808) 586-0922.
