Governor Linda Lingle Proclaims
July 26, 2006 as "Conservation Day"
At the opening session of the conference, Governor Linda Lingle proclaimed July 26, 2006 as Conservation Day. The proclamation, signed by Governor Lingle and Lieutenant Governor James R. Duke Aiona Jr., was presented to HCA program coordinator Christopher Puttock and HCA chair Randall Kennedy.
 
PROGRAM
There were over 90 oral presentations and 65 posters on a wide range of conservation issues centered on the 2006 theme of Sustainability: Mauka to Makai.

For their leadership in developing and passing the Legacy Lands Act during the 2005 legislative session, the 2006 HCA Conservation Innovation Award was presented on July 28, 2006 to Representative Brian Schatz, House Speaker Calvin Say, Senator Gary Hooser, Representative Ezra Kanoho, and Senator Russell Kokubun.
